Can PRP therapy re-grow hair in balding patients?

Hair Loss nowadays is a prime concern for many men and women. Hair loss can be a result of genetics, stress, bad hair care or any medical condition. More and more people are looking for an effective solution to save them from baldness where advances and adequate research has made this possible to combat the condition with ease. Treatments like PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) are showing impressive results in reversing hair loss.
Advancells, a pioneer in stem cell therapy explains the procedure of PRP therapy, also known as Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy is the richest source of growth factors, which are responsible for stimulating resident stem cells to divide and regenerate rapidly into desired cells. Thus, the technology of exploiting stem cells isolated from autologous sources such as adipose tissue, stimulated with your own platelet rich plasma has shown promising results in the regulating immune system, hormonal balance, production of new hair follicles and thus improving hair texture and strength. The procedure of PRP therapy involves drawing out one’s own blood and centrifuging it so that the plasma with platelets collects in the tube. This plasma rich in platelets growth factors which are very useful in tissue regeneration and healing. It is then injected on the scalp or rubbed on the scalp after performing a derma roller treatment in the areas which suffer from hair loss. Almost 90% of the population is suffering from hair loss and problems like thinning hair, androgenetic alopecia, i.e. hair loss at the top of the scalp, a receding hairline particularly along the temples, women with male pattern alopecia can all benefit from PRP therapy.
The treatment not only promotes hair growth but also strengthens hair follicles. It is quite a safe procedure without any side-effects. Since it involves drawing out blood and multiple needle pricks, it may seem uncomfortable and scary but a numbing cream is used prior to the procedure to reduce the discomfort. Though PRP treatment yields great results for people suffering from Hair Loss, it’s not for everyone.  People who have lost all hair cannot undergo this treatment as it does not help grow new hair on a bald patch. It can only make the existing thinning hair thicker by strengthening the hair follicles.

Currently, a variety of creams, oils, gels are offered externally along with some methods such as hair grafting, scalp expansion; however, results are unsatisfactory with an unnatural look. In today’s jet age, people are more inclined towards finding permanent solutions rather than opting for choices that require on and off visits to the doctors. Thus, use of Stem Cellsstimulated with autologous PRP can rather be reasonable options that can provide visually improve hair restoration, texture, strength, and growth.
